We deliver four public-interest programs — Leadership & Training, Applied Research, Standards & Implementation, and Ecosystem & Partnerships — so older adults, organizations, and governments across Latin America can adapt to longer lives and aging societies.
Demographic change is already reshaping talent, care, health, financial security, and public services. The Shift Foundation does more than talk about that change: we train leaders, produce useful research, support implementation, and build partnerships for action.
Every program is nonprofit and public-interest. We serve people and institutions — not commercial clients seeking private consulting.
Leadership & Training
We train emerging and senior leaders to understand aging, longer lives, and multigenerational communities — then improve workplaces, public programs, and community services.
Through The Shift Institute, scholarships, fellowships, and workshops, we equip decision-makers to act, not just analyze.
Who we serve: Emerging and senior leaders in government, nonprofits, employers, and community organizations across Latin America — and, through them, older adults and working families.
Activities
- Executive education and university programs with partners such as UCEMA and UCA
- Scholarships and fellowships through the Next Generation Leadership Fund
- Mentorship and leadership workshops for public, private, and civil-society teams
- In-organization training for leadership teams serving aging populations

Applied Research
We produce open research and regional data on longevity, aging, and institutional readiness — designed for use by people who make decisions that affect older adults and working families.
Our work reduces the information gap: many institutions know aging matters, but lack clear evidence and metrics to act.
Who we serve: Governments, nonprofits, employers, universities, and civic leaders who need evidence to improve services for older adults and multigenerational communities.

Standards & Implementation
The Shift Standard is our open framework for understanding how demographic change affects work, markets, health, financial security, and public systems — and for guiding implementation.
We do not stop at publishing a document. We support organizations and governments as they implement practical steps across six dimensions of demographic readiness.
Who we serve: Employers, public agencies, nonprofits, and community organizations that need a clear path to implement changes benefiting older adults, workers, and families.
Activities
- Maintain and update The Shift Standard 2.0 (English and Spanish)
- Provide implementation guidance for organizations and governments
- Help teams assess readiness and prioritize actions
- Independent stewardship by the Standard Council

Ecosystem & Partnerships
No single organization can prepare a region for demographic change alone. We build and strengthen partnerships that expand training, research, and implementation across Latin America.
We convene universities, civil society, public agencies, and aligned funders so programs reach more leaders and more communities.
Who we serve: Partner organizations, universities, public institutions, and civic networks — and the older adults, workers, and families who benefit when those partners act together.
